This past weekend UVS participated in the New York State Association for Veterinary Technician’s Spring Seminar! The two and half day conference brought together LVTs from all over New York State. As a sponsor for the event, we were able to show our support to the association and their mission, as well as network with all the attendees. We were honored to be part of the program and work side by side with such a great organization.

UVS teamed up with others in the Capital District to send donations down to Texas for the animal victims of Hurricane Harvey. All donations will be sent to Dallas DogRRR to be distributed to those in need. Their sister rescue, Tall Tails Animal Rescue in Houston was hit hard during the storm and lost everything. Last week, Upstate Veterinary Specialties participated in CDPHP’s Workforce Team Challenge for the fifth year in a row! UVS had 13 participants join the 3.5-mile road race in downtown Albany with 10,000 other runners and walkers. We love supporting this great event that promotes team camaraderie and health and fitness opportunities in the workplace! Although the Warren County/Glens Falls Area is a bit of a distance from Upstate Veterinary Specialties in Latham, NY, the staff and doctors of UVS wanted to provide assistance for a newer organization committed to animals and the community: the Warren County SPCA. At Upstate Veterinary Specialties, there is constant interest in learning and further advancement of the practice of veterinary medicine. Dr. Chelsie Estey of the UVS Neurology service has contributed to both journal articles and book chapters in a variety of scholarly publications. Most recently she co-authored a chapter on multifocal brain diseases in the Textbook of Veterinary Internal Medicine, which is due to publish in December 2016.
