UVS is happy to announce our participation in the 10th Anniversary of the ACVO/StokesRx National Service Animal Eye Exam event! During the entire month of May, service animals were invited to receive free screening eye exams from participating Ophthalmologists. This year was a record-breaking year with 290 participating Ophthalmologists from all over the United States and Canada. Wednesday, May 25 marked the final day of the 2016 ACVO (American College of Veterinary Ophthalmology)/StokesRx Service Dog screening exams for Dr. Christa Corbett and the ophthalmology team at Upstate Veterinary Specialties. This is the 9th year of the annual ACVO service dog eye screenings, and the 4th year for UVS participation. How is IC different from classic heart surgery? Generally surgery of the heart and major vessels had required surgically opening the chest. IC only requires a very small incision over one of the peripheral vessels most commonly the femoral artery or jugular vein. A visit with the cardiologist A new patient cardiology consultation at Upstate Veterinary Specialties begins with a referral from the pet’s family veterinarian. This referral typically includes a suspected or diagnosed cardiovascular issue.
