Dr. Rachel O’Brien is a New England native, born in Wrentham, MA, and attended University of Connecticut for her bachelor’s degree in animal science. In 2013, she completed her senior honors thesis, which studied poor maternal nutrition during pregnancy and its effect on their offspring using sheep as a model. In 2017, Dr. O’Brien obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Purdue University.

Following her DVM, Dr. O’Brien headed west and started her career as an Associate Veterinarian at Best Friends Animal Hospital in Great Falls, MT. After practicing for a year, Dr. O’Brien moved back to New England as an Associate Veterinarian at At Home Veterinary Care in West Gardiner, ME, and a Per Diem Veterinarian at the Animal Emergency Clinic of Mid-Maine in Lewiston, ME. Most recently, Dr. O’Brien practiced as an Associate Veterinarian at New England Animal Hospital in Waterville, ME. Dr. O’Brien enjoys working with local humane societies performing sterilization and non-elective procedures and is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).

Dr. O’Brien lives with her husband, two daughters, and dog and cat. She enjoys all things equine, being outdoors, and crocheting in her spare time. Dr. O’Brien is excited to be in upstate New York and enjoy its beautiful landscape.
