Dr. Todd Bishop is a native of New York’s Mid-Hudson Valley and earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree with distinction from Cornell University in 2003. During his veterinary education, he received awards recognizing his academic achievement and commitment to the profession.

Following veterinary school, Dr. Bishop completed a rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was recognized for excellence in teaching. He then entered private practice before pursuing advanced specialty training through a Neurology Internship and Neurology/Neurosurgery Residency at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in New Jersey. He became board-certified in Neurology by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) in 2009.

Dr. Bishop has been diagnosing and treating neurologic diseases in companion animals for more than two decades and has served pets and their families throughout New York’s Capital Region since joining Upstate Veterinary Specialties (UVS) in 2009. He has completed several advanced spinal surgery training courses and earned the ACVIM Neurosurgery Certificate of Training. His professional interests include inflammatory brain diseases, cerebrovascular disorders, and advanced spinal surgeries. Most importantly, he enjoys helping pets with serious neurologic conditions live longer, happier, and healthier lives.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Bishop serves as Chief Executive Officer and Co-Owner of UVS. In this role, he helps guide the strategic growth of the hospital, with a focus on expanding access to specialty and emergency care, recruiting and developing exceptional veterinary professionals, investing in advanced technology and facilities, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and compassionate service.

Dr. Bishop believes that veterinary medicine is ultimately about strengthening the bond between people and their pets. Under his leadership, UVS remains committed to providing expert care for any patient, any time, with the goal of helping pets and their families enjoy more time together.
