Dr. Lisa Knapp was born and raised in central NY. She attended Syracuse University for her undergraduate degree in biology, and in 2010 obtained her DVM from Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine.

In 2011, Dr. Knapp completed a small animal internship through VCA South Shore Animal Hospital in Weymouth, MA. During her internship, she rotated through a rigorous schedule, including emergency/critical care, surgery, internal medicine, ophthalmology, dermatology, neurology, and shelter medicine.

Before joining Upstate Veterinary Specialties in 2020, Dr. Knapp worked as a Senior Emergency Clinician at the Veterinary Medical Center of CNY. With over nine years of experience as an emergency clinician, Dr. Knapp thrives in a fast-paced emergency environment. Her skills include performing multiple emergency procedures, such as thoracentesis, abdominocentesis, pericardiocentesis, and client communication. Dr. Knapp is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society.
