Upstate Veterinary Specialties, PLLC is a growing, privately-owned, multispecialty referral and emergency practice located in Albany, New York’s Capital District. UVS has a large referral base that includes upstate New York and Western New England. As a privately owned hospital, the practice owners are active clinicians who take a team approach to manage the hospital. They make themselves accessible to the staff and are dedicated to making UVS the ideal veterinary practice for employees.

Our leadership, administration teams, doctors, and medical staff all work together in a collaborative environment to achieve our mission – helping pets live longer, happier lives through expert medical care and compassionate client service. Due to our increasing caseload, we are seeking an additional Surgeon to join our existing collegial team of board-certified specialists in:

Cardiology
Critical Care
Internal Medicine
Neurology
Ophthalmology
Oncology
Rehabilitation
Radiology
Surgery

Our clinicians are supported by highly educated licensed veterinary technicians, including one VTS (cardiology), assistants, client relations specialists, and administrative staff.

Our facility

This year we expanded our custom-built hospital, adding another 16,000 square feet, to our current 24,000 square foot facility. Those expansion plans will provide a dedicated emergency/soft tissue OR, as well as an Orthopedic/Minimally Invasive suite. Our facility currently has a large 2,293 square foot surgery suite that includes two designated surgical prep areas, four operating rooms, sterilization, and is adjacent to the fluoroscopy and endoscopy rooms. In addition, our hospital is equipped with advanced imaging modalities including 1.5T MRI, 64 slice CT scanner, and multiple ultrasound units. Perioperative care is complete with a 24-hour ICU, 2 criticalists, full diagnostic laboratory, and in-house pharmacy. Our surgery equipment inventory includes:

Digital X-ray with wall mounted viewing in each suite
Fluoroscopy suite with OEC 9800 C-arm fluoroscope
LigaSure system with Force Triad base
Thoracoscopy, Laparoscopy & Arthroscopy capabilities
Buffalo Smoke Evacuators
Wound vacuum, CUSA Tissue ablation, Orthopedic planning software
TPLO and TTA equipment, with plans for CBLO in the future
