4 weeks after surgery

“Viking” is on the road to recovery!

“Viking’s” grand name does not disappoint: the 165-pound bull mastiff recently underwent Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) surgery performed by UVS surgeon Dr. M. Faulkner Besancon. Earlier this year, “Viking” slipped on ice outside his home which resulted in him favoring his right hind leg and having occasional difficulty with stairs or climbing onto the “man cave” couch. Following the slip, “Viking” visited his family veterinarian who then referred the family to consult with Dr. Besancon.  After examining “Viking” in…

We saw gifted hands bring our dog from certain death to a happy and gainful recovery…

Dr. Melinda Payson saved our dog “Ginger’s” life with an emergency splenectomy. She did this at 3 in the morning and our gratitude is overwhelming.  We saw gifted hands bring our dog from certain death to a happy and gainful recovery, with a promising prognosis. This letter is also to acknowledge you [Dr. Wey] and thank you for providing this facility for animals that desperately need care. Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors. Best regards, Len

The surgery team at UVS helped to return 5 year old “Maddie” to her playful self.

“Maddie” F. is a gentle giant par excellence, although ruptured cruciate ligaments in both knees temporarily hampered her play time. “Maddie’s” recuperation following each TPLO surgery was a gradual process of increasing activity and physical therapy. Dr. Besancon and the team of surgical technicians and assistants at UVS helped to return 5 year old “Maddie” to her playful self. She now enjoys bounding through the snow and chasing after toys in the yard.

The excellent care and compassion Seamus received gave him back to me

Dr. Sedacca & Staff, I am enclosing the invite celebrating Seamus turning 15. This would not have been possible without the care Seamus (and myself) received at your practice. I will never forget that first day. As scared as I was, I was made to feel comfortable by the reception staff. The excellent care and compassion Seamus received gave him back to me for whatever time I’ve been blessed with. He is, by the way, thriving! Thank you so much,…

Dear Dr. Corbett: Thank you so much for your excellent care of our dog “Heidi-Bird”!  We are using the eye drops 3X per day as prescribed and “Heidi” is making an excellent recovery!  Her eyes are clearing, the redness is receding in the whites of her eyes and we couldn’t be happier!  We have been giving her “eye tests” with treats and she follows our hands every time!  Her vision is surely on the mend.  When you said that you had “a few tricks…

Very Knowledgeable & Compassionate

I would like to say that I am very pleased with Upstate Veterinary Specialties.  Within 6 months and having had my 2 Shih-Tzu’s cremated – a great loss – Dr. Sedacca was very knowledgeable (he explained the situation in terms one could understand) and compassionate (the sympathy card made the heart a little lighter).  His thoughts meant a lot.  To Dr. Sedacca all questions were important & he always saw to it that all phone calls were answered. The Front Desk workers were very…
