Pet Stories and Client Reviews

Compassion and Professionalism

“My dog Gunner had a few episodes of collapsing so we were referred to UVS. What was one of the scariest situations we have encountered as pet owners was soon put to ease by the Cardiac team at UVS. Dr. Wey delivered our boy’s diagnosis of DCM with compassion and professionalism. We love both of our dogs like our children and not only did I feel safe leaving him there for treatment but I felt included in every step of…

Care is Above and Beyond

“On 6/16/2020 Dr. Corbett performed surgery on our sweet Elsa. Elsa was blind in her left eye and had been seeing Dr. Corbett for several years. Suddenly Elsa developed a severe infection in that eye with swelling. Dr. Corbett first treated the infection and swelling and for Elsa’s long term health determined the eye needed to be removed. There was another important concern though; Elsa did not tolerate anesthesia well. After consultation with Dr. Bishop, they came up with a…

Thorough and Compassionate

“We had to take our 14-year-old Shih Tzu to an appointment with Dr. Wey. Although COVID-19 practices meant that we couldn’t be with Gizmo, it did not stop the UVS staff from treating us like we were the only people there! Dr. Wey and his staff kept us informed, they were very thorough and very compassionate. Dr. Wey continues to remain in touch with us in follow up conversations, and while Gizmo’s age has brought on a series of health…

Staff is Excellent

“Your clinic is beautiful and your staff is excellent. Duke can be difficult as he does not trust strangers, but everyone was so good he did great! We will return for any special services our local vet does not provide.” – Karla Y.

Outstanding and Quality Care

“Here are a few photos of our healthy, vibrant Danny Boy, who otherwise wouldn’t have been, if not for all of you. We cannot adequately thank you for all the love and outstanding care you provided to Danny, myself, and Cody during his stint at UVS. During all the worry, fear, and unknowns of his illness we always felt sure of the quality and attentiveness of the care he was receiving; and for that, we are endlessly grateful. It’s a…

Compassion & Care

“Nico was a patient at Upstate Veterinary Specialties, Sunday-Monday and I can’t thank your entire team enough for the compassion and care they showed us. I received a “good night” email photo of Nico Sunday night.  These little touches showed just how much your team cares and goes the extra mile.  When I came to pick him up Monday evening, it was nice to see many of the same faces from the day before.  They each had little stories about…

Loved Like Their Own!

“Our six-year-old purebred Cairn Terrier, Milo, just finished his second six-week rehabilitation session with Dr. Perez and Jenn following ACL replacement surgery in both knees. While the surgery did its job, Milo’s recovery was not complete until he had gone through rehab with UVS. Dr. Perez and her technician, Jenn are just amazing! They brought life back into Milo and returned him to the active, happy, rambunctious dog that we always knew him to be. Hopefully, we won’t need their services…

Outstanding Experience

“My experience with UVS was outstanding! From scheduling Dee Dee’s surgical consultation; to pre-op instructions, intake, and discharge; to her actual surgery. I appreciated the professionalism and compassion in all exchanges with UVS. Your staff made me smile and laugh and were able to turn a typically stressful situation into one that was a bit more manageable. This solidified my decision that choosing UVS for Dee Dee’s surgery was the right one. When I had my consultation with Dr. Bush,…

In Excellent Hands

“My husband and I can’t say enough wonderful things about UVS! From the moment we walked in the door with our 6 yr old boxer pittie, Gus, we felt relaxed and in excellent hands. Eileen was so helpful, professional and friendly, despite how busy it was. They told us the approximate wait time on the phone so we were very prepared to be there awhile. It was extremely clean and spacious in the waiting room. The LVT was so wonderful…

Wonderful Experience at UVS

“I just wanted to reach out to you to let you know what a wonderful experience we had at Upstate Veterinary Specialties. Two weeks ago, today, at 5:15 in the evening our nine-year-old male English Springer Spaniel named Guinness started to exhibit symptoms of bloat. We feared that it could be much worse and drove up the Northway at rush hour to UVS. The trip usually takes a leisurely 15 minutes but, on that day, it was over 45 minutes….

Thank You!

“This was our first time as a client for our Doxie Hunter. He had a swollen throat and breathing problems caused by it. It was a very emotional three days for us and Hunter. EVERYONE we came in contact with was extremely sweet and had no problems with me calling for updates. I’m so truly impressed with this facility, how it’s run, and their employees. To Dr. Berube – I wanted to take the time to truly thank you! We…

Caring & Supportive Staff

“In April our German Shepherd “Harley” was brought into UVS after being referred by our vet in an emergency situation. Harley had a cervical disc injury, one of which punctured his spine. He was paraplegic when we brought him in. From the moment we arrived, we were met at the door by the staff with a stretcher and immediately took him inside and comforted our dog and us. We were met by Dr. Todd Bishop who after an exam of…

Wonderful Team of Doctors, Technicians, and Front Desk Staff

Porsche and Hudson

Thank you again for your professionalism, skills, empathy and kindness.

Dr. Wey, Because of you, this video was possible to make! Between you and Dr. Thibeault of the Haven, “Porsche” the Wonder Dog is aging with vigor and seemingly painlessly. And now she has a boyfriend.  While she is 16 ½ years old, her pal “Hudson” is an 8-month-old pitbull/bull mastiff mix.  You gotta love a Cougar!  They cavort like this for an hour 3-4 times/week.  If the doggy-daddy walks by without “Hudson”, “Porsche” whines and paces until he’s out…

Despite this devastating news, we left the office feeling better than when we arrived.

Stella Rue’s chemotherapy “graduation” ceremony at UVS

Yesterday was her last chemo treatment, and what they did to celebrate her success was simply beautiful and meant so much to our family. The expert medical care that they provided to her has put…

"Banner" and his Viszla siblings

Essential to the overall experience…is the compassionate yet clear communication between doctors and family members

Dear Dr. Wey: Once again, I am in your debt and that of the entire staff of Upstate Veterinary Specialties. From the moment we brought “Banner” in to emergency, Dr. Outterson worked calmly, gently and thoroughly to diagnose the problem as a bladder stone. Of course, “Banner” presents “differently” to someone who doesn’t know his history so listening to our input and using every resource available to gather information quickly was critical.  The next morning, Dr. Bishop ruled out changes…

Dr. B. is always in our thoughts every time we see our happy, healthy “Big Boy”

“GuinnAgain” was thought to have a hygroma which kept getting larger. He was referred to Dr. Besancon who sent him for a biopsy and it was found that he had a cancerous tumor.  Dr. B. was sure “Gui” could handle and recover from necessary surgery which was to amputate his front right leg – and Dr. Besancon was absolutely right. The proof is in the picture.  Dr B. is always in our thoughts every time we see our happy, healthy…

“Viking” is on the road to recovery!

“Viking’s” grand name does not disappoint: the 165-pound bull mastiff recently underwent Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) surgery performed by UVS surgeon Dr. M. Faulkner Besancon. Earlier this year, “Viking” slipped on ice outside his home which resulted in him favoring his right hind leg and having occasional difficulty with stairs or climbing onto the “man cave” couch. Following the slip, “Viking” visited his family veterinarian who then referred the family to consult with Dr. Besancon.  After examining “Viking” in…
