Meet the Team – Dr. Christa Corbett, DVM, MS, DACVO, Veterinary Ophthalmologist at Upstate Veterinary Specialties

From the time she was a little girl, Dr. Christa Corbett knew she wanted to work in the field of veterinary services. In fact, she never wanted to do anything else! Growing up with Labradors who had their fair share of injuries, Dr. Corbett accompanied her parents and pets on each and every trip to the veterinarian. When she was old enough to drive, she took her pets to the vet herself. At the age of 16, she began volunteering in the field and by the age of 18 she had her first job at a veterinary hospital. From the very beginning, she was destined to become a veterinarian!
Dr. Corbett joined the Upstate Veterinary Specialties team in July 2013, bringing with her extensive experience in the field of veterinary ophthalmology. After attending the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford for her undergraduate study, Dr. Corbett attended veterinary school at the Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island, Canada. Following her graduation from veterinary school, she interned for 2 years on Long Island, then moved on to complete a 3 year residency in Comparative Ophthalmology at The Ohio State University.
After working for 3 years at a private practice veterinary hospital in Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Corbett moved back to Upstate NY and joined the staff at Upstate Veterinary Specialties.
Now, Dr. Corbett provides eye care for pets as part of the team of compassionate, skilled specialists at UVS. From performing cataract surgeries that help patients regain their sight to diagnosing and treating patients with vision problems and ocular diseases like glaucoma to screening service animals for ocular diseases, Dr. Corbett takes pride in helping pets improve their ocular health so they can live life to the fullest!
