Introducing Dr. Jenny Odell, the Newest Member of the Growing UVS Emergency and Critical Care Service
Dr. Jenny Odell, DVM is the most recent veterinarian to join the Emergency and Critical Care Service at Upstate Veterinary Specialties. For many of the veterinarians and clinical staff at UVS, Jenny’s employment is a chance to say “Welcome Home”!
Dr. Odell started her career in veterinary medicine as a veterinary assistant at Battenkill Veterinary. She then joined the surgery service at UVS as a veterinary assistant and worked full-time for several years before leaving for veterinary school. She pursued her formal training at St. George’s University and obtained her DVM degree in 2015. After graduation from veterinary school Jenny completed a year-long small animal rotating internship at Atlantic Coast Veterinary Specialists on Long Island. Dr. Odell’s special interest in surgery and rehabilitation first developed during several years of working as the surgical assistant at UVS and she looks forward to rejoining the UVS team as a veterinarian.
From the moment it first opened its new doors at 152 Sparrowbush Road to patients on December 16, 2015, the hospital has never closed. Growth of UVS specialty departments (including Cardiology, Neurology and Internal Medicine) fueled the move to our new location, and the facility has provided the opportunity for the Emergency and Critical Service to take off as well. The service has grown substantially since December’s opening date, and Jenny’s addition to the staff will help UVS continue to provide excellent service to emergent and critical cases.
