UVS is excited to announce our newest edition to our Internal Medicine team! Dr. Alison Khoo joined our team last month and is actively taking IM appointments. The addition of a third internist will greatly increase our ability to accommodate cases from our referral network.
Dr. Alison Khoo was born in Malaysia and raised in Perth, Western Australia. She attended Murdoch University and received her Bachelors of Science in veterinary biology in 2009. She continued her education with Murdoch University and completed a doctorate level program in veterinary medicine and surgery in 2011. A Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVMS) is the equivalent of a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited US college or university.
Following her university studies, Alison completed a one-year oncology/medicine internship at Perth Veterinary Specialists in Western Australia and a small animal rotating internship at Mississippi State University. From 2014-2017, Alison completed her three-year residency in small animal internal medicine at Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatchewan, Canada. She became board certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2017.
Alison’s residency project, Effects of Resuscitative Fluid Therapy on Cardiac Biomarkers was accepted for publication and her article entitled, Intranasal Mast Cell Tumor in the Dog: A Case Series, has been published in the Canadian Veterinary Journal. Alison was also the 2016 recipient of the ACVIM’s Resident Research Award.
We are very excited about Alison joining our team and expanding our Internal Medicine caseload in the Capital District and beyond!
