Dr. Kirsten Piotrowski was born and raised locally in New Scotland, NY a great town just outside Albany. She attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) for her undergraduate degree in biology, then started her journey to become a veterinarian at Ross School of Veterinary Medicine. In 2006, she transferred to Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine and obtained her DVM.
After obtaining her veterinary degree, Dr. Piotrowski completed a general internship at the MSPCA Angell Western New England Animal Center from 2006-2007 and a surgical internship at Long Island Veterinary Specialists from 2007-2008. Dr. Piotrowski is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society.
Dr. Piotrowski originates from the Capital District but has lived on the north shore of Long Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts throughout her career. Prior to joining Upstate Veterinary Specialties in 2018, Dr. Piotrowski practiced as an Emergency Veterinarian with numerous veterinary hospitals throughout New England, most recently VCA Boston Road Animal Hospital in Springfield, MA. There her responsibilities included diagnosis and treatment of emergency medical and surgical patients.
Kirsten has two Boston Terriers, Kermit and Polly and one Himalayan cat, Norbert. With her family local to the area, she enjoys spending time with them, as well as reading, knitting, and going to plays. During the warmer months she hikes in the Berkshires and gardens.
