Dr. Keith Montgomery was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. He attended Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, PA for his undergraduate degree in biology and he obtained his DVM from The Ohio State University in 2005. Keith then completed a one-year small animal internship at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, followed by an ophthalmology internship at Angell Animal Medical Center in Springfield, MA. In 2010 Keith completed his residency in comparative veterinary ophthalmology at Cornell University and became board certified by the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2011.
Prior to joining Upstate Veterinary Specialties in 2017, Keith practiced at Southern New Hampshire Veterinary Referral Hospital. Before that he was an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology for North Carolina State University with particular interest in corneal disease. Keith is an editorial board member for the Journal of Veterinary Ophthalmology and has published numerous research articles encompassing small animal and equine ophthalmology.
Keith moved to upstate NY to enjoy sky running, skiing, hiking and other sources of cultural enrichment. He lives with his wife, son and furry friends, including Great Danes, Ragdoll cat, and horse named Guinness.
