Dr. Donna Mensching is local to the upstate area, born and raised in Voorheesville, NY. Dr. Mensching completed her undergraduate degree in Zoology at Duke University in 1991 and obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University in 1995.

Following her DVM, Dr. Mensching practiced as an Associate Veterinarian with several hospitals in the Upstate and New England areas. In 2004, her passion for environmental stewardship led to a residency in toxicology at the University of Illinois, College of Veterinary Medicine. She received her Master of Science in Environmental Toxicology in 2007 and board certification from the American Board of Veterinary Toxicology in 2008.

Dr. Mensching’s experience includes Senior Toxicologist at the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center in Urbana, IL and Veterinary Toxicology Consultant at the BioDiversity Research Institute in Gorham, ME. Before joining Upstate Veterinary Specialties in 2022, Dr. Mensching returned to NY as an Associate Veterinarian for several years in the Adirondacks.

Dr. Mensching is happy to be back in her home area, where she can enjoy all four seasons and adventure travel. Donna has a Redbone Coonhound/Beagle mix named Parker, a lab mix named Katie, and a cat named Alice. She enjoys hiking, cross-country skiing, kayaking, and biking in her spare time.
